Using the Share Sheet

Find translations:

  • while reading in Safari or another app;
  • while identifying a bird with Merlin Bird ID;
  • while reading about a species on Wikipedia; or
  • after identifying a species with Visual Intelligence and opening the linked Wikipedia page.

Select a species name and share it to Taxon Translate. Close the result to continue where you left off.

Using Shortcuts

Books does not provide the same Share Sheet route for selected text. To find translations while reading in Books, add the Lookup Species Shortcut once. Select and copy the species name, then run the Shortcut.

Shortcuts provide another way to find translations throughout iOS and may be easier for some people. You can also run them with Siri, although we have not yet tested that route.
